While many actors get sick of being dubbed a ‘one hit wonder’ for their most notable roles, there are others who fully embrace the title. One of Canada’s best exports ever, The Trailer Park Boys, definitely fall into the second category. The Boys will soon be selling their own brand of legal cannabis. Ricky, Julian and Bubbles are never shy about their love of the herb and liquor on their show. The Boys are already successfully selling their own brand of booze called Liquormen’s Ol’ Dirty Canadian Whiskey, and now the actors are looking to cash in on legally selling weed to their fans.

The Trailer Park Boys started as a low-budget mockumentary film in 1999 and premiered as a television series on Canadian channel Showcase. The film and the show follows the misadventures of lovable losers and low-level criminals Ricky, Julian, and Bubbles, played by actors Rob Wells, John Paul Tremblay, and Mike Smith, respectively. The Boys live in the fictional Sunnyvale Trailer Park in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. After the Showcase series ended in 2008, Netflix picked up the show, airing seasons 8, 9 and 10, with season 11 coming soon. The Boys have also released three full length films, three specials, done various worldwide live shows and created the popular comedy website Swearnet.

According to a press release, The Boys chose OrganiGram Holdings Inc. to be their exclusive Canadian cannabis producer, business partner and brand developer. As part of the agreement, OrganiGram will work with Trailer Park Boys productions to develop “branding, packaging, and a competitive product portfolio targeted towards recreational marijuana consumers.”

“This relationship solidifies one of our strategic building blocks as we plan for the legalization of recreational use in Canada. The team at Trailer Park Boys have an aligned vision to develop a National brand with our assistance and we’re incredibly excited at how the partnership will come to life,” Ray Gracewood, Chief Commercial Officer at OrganiGram, said in the press release.

A skilled cannabis grower himself, the character Ricky once held a stance of “don’t legalize it”, out of concerns his black market business would be outsold by legal weed in Canada; it seems he has fully changed his stance on the matter now.

Although cannabis is currently still illegal in Canada, the Liberal Party of Canada supports full legalization and regulation for recreational use. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau supports ending cannabis prohibition and has defended this stance on several occasions.

  1. if you consider the possibility that the product from ANY Licensed Producers is irridiated or had been sprayed by “approved” fungicides even in the flowering stages, one approved is monsanto product with 99% unlisted ingredients, so disclosure is paramount to obtaining clean cannabis, the LPs need to put the facts on the label…was the product irridiated, and did you use ANY fungicides or sprays in ANY STAGE OF GROWTH. Just because an entity like Health Canada approves something to be applied to a plant, an entity that doesnt believe cannabis is medicine, doesnt mean they have done their due dilligance, ensuring the product is FULLY EFFECTIVE as gamma rays make the resin INERT, and that entity says its ok to spray stuff on its flowers intended for human consumption, is possibly carcinogenic, and you expect the public to accept they dont label the product with the processes used during production and preparing it for shipping, and they are supposed to TRUST THE LP’s…DISCLOSURE is totally necessary, anyone unwilling is snake oil salesman, pure and simple…
